Shortness of Life

Do you really need a strong work ethic?
Or would it come naturally when you do the things you genuinely care for? We often mistake the art of BUSYNESS as something that is somehow fulfilling and rewarding. Often when we look back on life, the only regret that we hold is just not taking the time to stop, pause and think about why the hell were we even doing these things in the first place which take up the majority of our lives. There is a trend which I see setting in the corporate world. You must sacrifice your sleep to get shit done. We all live in fear of our bosses and the fear of being fired. It’s true these things hurt, but on the flip side, you were hired in the first place because someone saw some potential in you and then decided to make their shit get done through you. Someone else is always ready to hire you for your services, don’t be so fearful as to whether you’ll get a job or not. Everything turns out to be a blessing in the long grand scheme of things.

We live our lives as if we are destined to live forever. However, it’s the stupidest thing on the planet. You all act like mortals facing your fears but feel like immortals in your desires.
Shouldn’t we reverse the script, for a fully integrated personality? We always put our plans 15 or 20 years ahead in future only to realise that soon there would be other shit piling up, and time would never come back again. We all are a speck of dust in this cosmos, LEARN TO LIVE WITH THAT

I would like to end this writing with this quote from Seneca
It is not that we have a short time to live, but we waste a lot of it. Life is long enough, and a sufficiently generous amount has been given to us for the highest achievements if it were all well invested.
But when it is wasted in heedless luxury and spent on no good activity, we are forced at last by death’s final constraint to realize that it has passed away before we knew it was passing.
So it is: we are not given a short life but we make it short, and we are not ill-supplied but wasteful of it… Life is long if you know how to use it.
